I am getting a feeling that I've screwed up with this thread, so I hope I can discuss and compromise my way out of this situation...
>Could probably just make do with a general "no making unfounded accusations against people" rule. Actually, your examples would probably be covered under a general rule against trolling, too.
>You can still specify that the RULES consider such statements insults and that they therefore are disallowed, but that's a completely different thing.
>so while there is probably no legal reason to ban [so I think it's more reasonable to instead simply disallow drawings that seem to depict child-like characters sexually.], we might as well do so anyway to avoid any /yeh/-like shenanigans here
I can get behind having more simplified and wide rules such as these, so I will hereby support them. That is, as long as the rules can be used to moderate the board.
(Almost since its beginning, Ponychan had huge problems with its rules being very wide, and the resulting big greyzones were virtually never moderated against. In addition, the one guy who was very strict on greyzones {!!Trixie} was possibly even worse than the other mods.)
>You know, a goyim is someone who isn't a Jew, so a "Jewish goyim" is an oxymoron.
Okay, you're right on that, I remember now how that joke(?) went.
>Really now. I was hoping to forge some sort of understanding here and create a place with some kind of imageboard cultural syncretism that is acceptable to most people, but it appears I was very naive and underestimated how very entrenched people are in their internet tribalism.
>It's nice to see the regular old circle here but I really don't want to contribute to creating a culture meant to exclude people. The fandom is already tiny enough as it is, there's really no reason why it should be impossible to be at least somewhat accommodating to most people who stumble upon this site.
Uh... then, uh, I guess we've been on different paths for a while, as I've been advocating isolationism and reasonable discoursing for roughly five or six months by now. And such things as rule-abiding and fair online discussions are more or less hard-coded into me.
What could I really say now... it's just that, when I see Fillychan, Fillychanthread, Twitter, Brohoof's Filly thread, Club Filly pre-Victory Day, Filly Wikia pre-taking-the-piss, and in most instances Funtasia Daily, I feel very happy for having found the small unique corner of the internet that is the most polite, the most willing to be friendly to other polite people, and the most verticular in discussions. When I see other chans, I feel some kind of pain: 95% of their discourses are tired-to-death memes, the most loved posters are the most dramatic and evil posters, and they always believe that their own opinions are the only correct one and scolds other people for believing in what is actually correct. It's like if one were to compare character behaviours in G3 Ponyland to those in Equestria.
We could need more posters, but then I honest to Sparkle don't think that appealing to 4chan is the most right idea. As you say, most of them has "pretty much all gone and/or don't care that much nowadays.", and I have so little faith in them that I think they would screw up every chance they'd get to behave well on Fillychan. I am in think beginning to think that we should rather attempt appealing to 00's/10's toy collectors and preschool-cartoon fansites, and rename Fillychan as Filly Forums, although those are perhaps very large and dislikeable suggestions to make.
Those last three paragraphs didn't end up being compromising at all, but think I've got feelings now that are popping out of my pores whether I would want it to or not...
