I bought it for use on a previous desktop from January 2014 onwards, as my younger brother's account was unavailable on the grounds that he was off to a folkehøyskole, a Nordic one-year boarding school with unusual courses. I got good use for it for roughly 8 months, before an update rendered my main single-player map very lagging (down from 120fps near-consistently on a high-hertz screen, to ~10fps).

I do still have my account, presuming that I can remember my username (I remember my password vividly somehow), and can use it on my own desktop that I built after giving up on the old desktop. It'd require actually downloading the game, and getting home from vacation, so since I get a strong feeling that this thread is about finding Minecraft online companions, I can at the very earliest get ready around 16:00CEST (17:00MoST), but will probably need up to another two hours after that.

Of course, it's unless I'm greatly mistaken, and this isn't an online contact thread.

Worth to note: I vastly prefer Creative over Survival, loves to maintain a town as if it was SimCity (but with less catastrophes), and spends a whole lot of time running and jumping around in the towns I've built.

And this is why I never stick to one map only. Also because once there's an update that adds, for example, quartz, I'd suddenly find myself in a world where I'd have to travel far to find any quartz.

Actually this thread is to gauge how many people would potentially visit a Filly Minecraft server if it ever existed. I have a lovely forest-plains island seed which would suffice for a Filly Kingdom-esque map:

Aw, what a lovely dedication! What's your favourite material? Wood? Stone? Bricks? Wool? Sponge? Command blocks?

It's difficult to combine alternating between multiple maps, with an adoration for self-built towns with an often-increasing amount of buildings. But I think I ran into a situation like yours once: My first map, which was almost city-tier by the end, was begun before jungles were a thing in Minecraft. Suddenly, it was very difficult and impractical to find a jungle and then find the way back to the city.

It turned out that it was just as well that way. It was 2012-2013-ish, the PC had last been upgraded in mid-2009, and the RAM was limited to 3.5GB. It would have been 6GB, if my dad had discovered that 64-bit OS's had actually improved since the Itanium Windows XP fiasco. Overall, testing out jungles on test-maps brought the PC down to its stained knees. The PC and the City overall reached a sad ending: The city got so big that I couldn't walk from one end of the city to the other without Minecraft running out of memory and automatically quitting.

Aah. So no hasty stuff, then (Phew)! I believe I would be on something 2.4.1-esque (I have no idea what the recent numbers of the Minecraft updates have been), but this thread will remind me to try it at some point.

As of 2.3-ish, I can build buildings and apartments out of pretty much every single decorative block... except four. Netherstone, the other Nether block, and sponges, are not used by me because they simply look too ugly. I also have never allowed TNT placements inside my fenced town borders.

Command blocks are seldom used, and never in the construction itself. Food ovens are the only ones I use to any real degree, if my very common redstone torches doesn't count (I like making subway/tram commute lines too).

Sounds like you've built a massive city! Minecraft's coding has got better since 2012-2013, with a lot of updates specifically aimed at performance improvements, and now it runs relatively good. I haven't met a chunk error, or block lag, or anything of sorts for a long time now.

Current Minecraft version is indeed 1.8.3, although the launcher may confuse people because it has its own version number, and it is infinitely easier to spot before launching the game than the game's version itself.

Nether now has more than just two blocks, since Nether Fortresses have been added, and sponges now have a use: they absorb water, although in a different way than that in the old classic Minecraft.

While the city wasn't perfectly square, I recall it as being about 550x200 blocks wide, and had all vital facilities in life: The extreme ends at the 550-block length were at an airstrip and a golf course's 4th hole respectively, for starters.

The fact that it has better coding now sounds pretty good; I remember a lot of complaints back in the day about Minecraft's coding being very inefficient.

Ah. The Launcher's second version must have been a bit tricky.

That does at least warrant some use for sponges, if they can prevent lake (or pool) floodings. In my days, it was fairly common for a swimming pool or a misused water bucket to leak out and cause big problems for railway tracks. Also, there's Nether Fortresses?!
