I am unfortunately of that rare kind of person who get a foul taste in my mouth when official companies are repeatedly buggered with questions, but let's see:

It's new to me that the mirrors are outright wands. That sort of explains' Funtasia's magic a bit more.

Out of your two ideas for Wranglum, I'll go with the latter, as I've had a similar idea in mind for about three months now. But I'll add another theory, that Wranglum was trapped inside a magic mirror by someone else as a sort of prison. The latter idea has been around for 12 months+, but back then we at first had no idea that mirrors were used for anything, and later on could not manage to add two and two and connect the students' mirrors and Wranglum's mirror.

That too, yes. Anyway, seems that Wranglum is that kind of villain extremely powerful and dangerous, but also is stripped of the basic abilities like walk or take things, that make him harmless and pathetic.

I'm thinking that the mirrors should explain a bit the hints about the "magic gems" in the Funtasia flyer. Fillys have the skill to enchante objects like tools, as Witchy doing with capes, wands and brooms; and maybe Witchies can enchant other object with the same functions if they wants, but they use these just for tradition. The crown/gems probably are like the mirrors: tools created for doing some kind of works, and that is a common "custom" that Fillys has between all races.

I notice also that Witchies have no crowns, becouse their gem is in the cape. My "headcanon": the crowns are the same thing as the capes are for the Filly Witchy.
While other races chooses to keep the crowns as magical tool for use their powers, the Witchy replace them at some point in their hystory with the capes, that have same powers and functions.

Wait a minute here... the crown/cape gems are considered "Crystals from Swarovski", right?

What if... it's their crowns/capes that gives the Academy students their powers, under the provision that the students have noticeable amounts of powers and magic?

Seems like that to me too. He's angry and demeaning, but relies on the help of a naïve "flying rat" to provide at least a handful of services in his hideout.

Could it be so that Wranglum never really exits his hideout, and instead tasks Battiwigs with doing all of his evil feats? It would be less of a "wheelchair pushing" and more of a "hitman of disputable quality" connection between the two!

I'm glad Sauron escaped this fate, somehow. Must be because he was also rendered mute.

But then again I have to refer to the main villain of Diplodos (the name of whose I forget): he was trapped under the planet's surface and his release was the main goal of the antagonists of the cartoon. The villain had no power what so ever but could still speak. I found him quite scary as a kid, especially in the light of Diplodos' last episode (which I won't spoil, even though the Internet has no episodes available, seemilngly).

Witchys do have crowns, but their crowns have no gems, yes. This is also true with Princess, even though the art suggests otherwise.

I remember the Witchy gains their capes already in their homeland after a ceremony, but is possible that some of them get it in the Academy instead of Zimsala.

I forgot that the Witchy have the crown "in" the hats (for those that have it). Some Elves also have neckaces or bracelets, along with the crowns, but I don't recall that the Princess have some Filly with other accessories than the crown (beside some "normal" jewelery).

Firstly, Wranglum's face looks somewhat similar to Battiwigs. What if he would only be able to be seen when someone into the mirror, looking like shadow of their own face - or, he drains soul and/or energy out of those using the mirror? Maybe he's slowly gaining Batt's own personality?

Secondly, if he's specifically interested in taking Funtasia's academy, then he might be a former professor?

I remember that comic too, and due to a missing word in my post, I was actually supposed to suggest that it's the crystals in the crowns and capes that would give them the magic. But as Zejgar does point out in >>346 that the Witchys does have gemless crowns, and Unicorns and Elves are stated to have magic at young ages, I think me and arguably Skundi may be on to something here.

That's pretty right. I think they got a different set of poses compared to Forest and Beach Party, and that's pretty much it.

Battiwigs as he is in the October 2013 trailer would as far as I can tell be a very undesirable personality for an evil mirror to adopt. But it seems plausible, as perhaps Battiwigs was once much more mean, but Wranglum absorbed nearly all of those mean feelings from him?

A major piece of comparison I have, is Sofia the First, where the role of "Gloomy guy dreaming of world domination" is Cedric the Wizard, a massively failing wizard serving at the royal castle but who still holds a wizard job there. For me, Funtasia's function as a meeting place for species could make that a big and wide amount of magic to steal there, and that he is a former professor would probably require the Academy to be more than ~15 years old, but my unadulterated gut feeling tells me that the Academy will be pretty new in-universe by the time of Liar, Liar, Prance on Fire.

A good question indeed is how old the Academy, and how much time Wranglum is there. The room where is it seems an abandoned magazine full of forgotten stuff. I'm not surprise if the Academy staff neither remember what they put there.
But also possible that room was really the study of one of the professor, that when disappeared the Academy staff simply "sealed" or left empty! The state of abandonment is just becouse nobody set foot in the study for long time.
And watching the concept arts a second time, the room of wranglum is more a study left empty: the blankets on furnitures are typical to cover them when is knows that these will be not used for long time. Setting it in the basement sounds very close also to put it in a "dungeon", a classic fantasy clichè where a lot of "dark and evil" warlock love lives. ;)
I think then that nobody know what is the destiny of the magician: one day they just find a mirror, and they put it in a chest thinking was one of beloning of Wranglum... without knowing that "it was" Wranglum itself!

Indeed seems also that Battiwig find the mirror in the chest, being surprised to see him "alive".

I think that, much simply, one day they sended Battiwig to the abandoned room to search something (maybe a solution against the "monster"?), and accidentally he open the chest and find the old mirror, awakening it in some way if it was "unactive". The reason why he want help him still a mistery for now.
That also set Battiwig not just the Wranglum "henchbat", but part of the regular Academy staff. Is possible that him interact in some ways to other main characters, but stay in background and keep the secret of his link with Wranglum? That would put Battiwig in a interesting situation where he is a spy, he can move freely in the Academy doing secretely the Wranglum agenda, but also interact with the "good guys" that could, indirectly, make him rethink at some point in the story of his relation with the mirror. What really matter is "why the bat help the mirror?" If they get a very good reason, I think the little bat will turn in one of the most interesting character of the show.

Another possibility, is a thing that Zejgar point out in one of the Filly commercial, where Princess Sparkle keep in "hoof" a mirror that resemble very much Wranglum. What is the Dark Mirror was really a magical object owned by the Princess? If they are like magic wands, is possible that Wranglum tried to steal it to study its magic, but something going wrong and the mirror "suck him".

They have some really interesting stuff in their hand, I must say.

I have a doubt about the episodes list for now: is possible that still not the complete for the first ones. The first episode sounds more a plot to use for the second or one later after the opening. Generally a opener should be both an introduction of the characters, but also explain how the main character, that is the "new guy", inserts herself in the group; or how the group forms. The plot of the monster sound more a normal episode than a true opener. Also, we can see that all episode listed on the site were already part of the various trailers, so they made a site previewn with stuff they already show. Is possible that the opener will be different from the monster episode, but isn't in list becouse there is not scenes in the trailer, except maybe when Battiwig "finds" Wranglum.

Or is possible that the monster plot is what lead some Academy teachers to send Battiwig to search something in the abandoned study of Wranglum, where he finds the mirror, we will see.
But sounds strange that there is a scene from this episode where Battiwig watch outside the window and ask he don't know what is happening: if he was send there to seek something for the monster, then he can not say to don't know what's going on.

There also to add that the promo speak of "students", so I'm more toward the idea that not just Rose will be in her first days at the Academy, but also the rest of the cast. I'm more inclined to think that they are all both in their first year of study.
The looking that Rose and Bella give themselves about speaking the monster also have some kind of confidency that not exist between two persons just after being met. Is something that could arise after passing a couple of days togheter. Is clear that between Rose and Isabella could not being a strong bond at start, but is possible that Bella ask to her schoolmate to help her in something that she thinks important if she already saw that could count on Rose.
I think the monster plot, in general, require a minimal trust between characters that could be hard to estabilish immediately in the first episode. It could be, but sounds strange to me.

I think the fist episode is "missing" for now, and I'm not surprised if will be also some multi-part too (in 2 or more), like some other series.

Yeah, it's possible that this could be the list of episodes they presented at MIP but not actually the broadcast order. The cupcake episode feels very much like a pilot episode used to demonstrate what the show is about but perhaps not so great for introducing the characters.

That could be another reason why it contradicts the clue in the 3D model designs. It's Episode #5 in the clue but Episode #3 in the website list. If the series starts with a two-part opener and then follows that list, that would bump it up to #5...
