I've been thinking of a side universe that would use nothing from canon so that it would be more safe to do arts or crossovers with. Thus omitting the name "Filly" for these races as it's copyright...
With there already a lot of things known in the brand, such as Ice Filly now, it's increasingly difficult to think of original kinds of ponies, so it'll be weird. For now, can't help but reuse some of my previous ideas a bit.
So. New races.
Dark fairy ponies. Billboard ponies. Inuit ponies. Nanotech ponies. Ogre ponies. Radio ponies. :)
1.Dark fairies are black, with shorter mane/tails, and they have beetle-like wings and wing covers on their back. Their eyes are also normally dim and black/grey, but these ponies can make themselves glow. When they do, their eyes, wings, possibly hooves and manes/tails start glowing with individual color and pattern.
They special powers are energy-related. They may emit individual kinds of energy from their hooves. Their speech is usually modulated by side sound effects, such as water sound or electric arc sound or buzzing, and they talk with odd accents/quirks and their glow fluctuates when they do. it's never a normal speech. They live in a forest that's always dark with bright glow sources illuminating it from the inside. Scary-ish place with its own laws.
2.Billboard ponies don't speak but their coat colors always change and (3d-looking?) images/glow (realistic or abstract or otherwise, depending on the pony) can appear on it according to what they want to say or imagine, or their mood. Their face is looking a bit alien statue-like and rarely shows emotions. Their lifestyle is usually simplistic. Just "eat grass and do arts".
3.Ogre ponies are like big desert-wandering trolls, they have featherless wings, and some live in tribes. They're too heavy to fly. They are religious, and build stone-based arts and statues. They may rob any pony who goes through their territory, as long as they can without doing harm, collecting valuable things in one place. They speak their own language. Some ogres live in other areas.
4.Polar race is there to offer Christmas theme. As usual, the one delivering presents is a mare named Clouds. The others are involved in making them, for which they have scouts in warm lands, trying to spy over ponies to know what they'd like to receive, and some material traders. They use energy staves that can heat or freeze. Staves have limited energy and must be recharged at electric stations which use oil. Their main stronghold is in a big mountain in the center of their land, where they have a lot of tunnels.
5.Nanotech ponies have genetics-based colors (family is likely to have similar color), they use nanobot powder and make magic with it (reusable), and various other techpunk things, sometimes of scary kind. They are a kind most close to wizards. However, they act rather dark ages like medieval. Their towns are ruled by some dark-ish (but not really dangerous) cult. Individual ponies don't have access to any production nor is trading allowed except through staff, and they must earn the goods by obedience. They exile some ponies for inobedience.
6.Radio ponies have a thorn-like horn and communicate with it. They have the same radio frequency they all use, and are vulnerable to any magic happening nearby. They are a closely united society even as they all live far from each other, kind of hivemind. They are weak and often cooperate with other kinds of ponies, who don't offend them because the whole hivemind is powerful and influential. If one of them betrays them, they break his antenna.
So... should there be extra wings somewhere?.. is it too dark?
